Obtaining a Civilian Identity

Went to cancel my diplomatic passport, and in turn be categorized as another riff raff with the standard malaysian passport.

The process:

• Go to Wisma Putra, in Putra Jaya, to get letter to cancel diplomatic passport.
• Receive passport, and letter of cancellation, in a nice envelope to be delivered to Immigration, Putra Jaya
• Go to Immigration, in Putra Jaya, to deliver letter, to cancel diplomatic passport.
• Go to Level 1, Counter 1
• Smile
• Give IC and Passport
• Wait 5 minutes
• Receive IC and chopped up Passport
• Prepare the following:
  • A good long book
  • Old Passport
  • Birth Certificate + Photocopy
  • IC + photocopy
  • Two passport photos
  • MYR 300 (32 pages for an Adult)
  • Your left and right thumb for fingerprinting purposes
  • Pen
  • Note: Photo and photocopying services are located near Immigration in Pusat Bandar Damansara, bring small change, preferably coins.
• Go to Immigration, in Pusat Bandar Damansar, to apply for new passport.
• Purchase application form for MYR 1
• Fill in application form, written in Malay
• Line up at Counter 1 to get a number to process the application form
• Smile
• Collect Number
• Wait 3 hours for your number to appear, to hand in application form.
• Smile
• Confirm your identity with your right finger print
• Confirm your identity with your left finger print
• Ink right finger print
• Present prepared documentation, and leave the originals with immigration
• Wait 20 minutes for your number to appear, to pay for new passport
• Smile
• Hand over MYR 300
• Feel broke
• Get back you're originals, except for the photos
• Wait 2 hours to get another number to be able to pick up your passport
• Go out and have lunch
• Line up at Counter 35
• Smile
• Collect Number
• Wait 30 minutes to get you're passport
• Smile
• Hand over IC for verification
• Confirm your identity with your right finger print
• Pick up your IC and passport
• Optional: Purchase passport protector from the desk assistant who hands you you're passport for MYR 2
• Look at passport, and verify that that is your face on it.
• Smile
• Leave happy that the day is finally over.
