Our Parents Expections
Our parent's expectations are set on us even before we are born.
Before we are born, our parents expect us to be born.
Our parents expect us:
- to be born.
- to be born in good health.
- to look into their eyes, are recognize them as your father and mother.
- to turn over.
- to crawl
- to walk.
- to talk.
- to enter pre school
- to enter school.
- to leave school.
- to enter college.
- to graduate.
- to get your first job.
- to get married.
- to get your own house.
- to have your first child.
Only after all that, it seems that your life is truly your own.
Not Enough Time
Note: These are my thoughts and opinions, and will generally be developed through time as I see fit. I post it here for others to develop their own thoughts. Any inconsistencies in my opinions merely means I have not updated older posts.
There just isn't enough time in the day, and when I try to do everything, I easily get burnt out.
I am still one of those people who require a daily job, and doesn't have his money working for himself. Well hopefully that will change one day.
In the mean time, for all those bread winners out there I believe there is just enough time for:
- Your daily job
- Relationships
- Hobby
Schedule
Daily Job
Its important to have only one of them. Managing two different jobs, does put an intense load on you.
Relationships
Now this one gets tricky. This depends on the size of your relationships, and the quality of your relationships.
Hobby
This is your escape. This is how you destress, and detach from the world. This is how you enjoy your life.
The Goal
If you are lucky, all of these will combine to be your daily job. But not something that you hate, but something that you love doing.
Your hobby can be in building relationships. Your building relationships can become your job. Your hobby can become your job. There is nothing stopping you.
But if we can't get there, we need to dedicate enough time to each of these areas.
Now you think this is against the idea of "Do One Thing, And Do It Well", but it is not. That one thing you do well, should be one of these. Now we can't do these things 100% of the time, as we'll find it strenuous.
Now if your hobby, becomes your relationships, and your relationships becomes your job. Isn't that doing your job 100% of the time? It is. But its ok, because it is still variety, and you know what they say: Variety is the spice of life.
