Better Internet Explorer compatibility: Microsoft Joins OpenAjax Alliance
Sadly, Microsoft didn't pull a 180 and joined the OpenDocument Format Alliance. Instead they joined the OpenAjax Alliance (site), which should be good news to many developers.
What do I expect out of this? I hope better adherence to standards! Comon Microsoft, with some of the best (and worsts of) brains out there you should be able to follow standards.
This is really good news, especially with the increasing interest in Ajax. Some people say its the way of the future. The browser is the new desktop. Though I wouldn't agree yet, I do recognize that you can do some amazingly cool things.
For simple (and even some very complex things), you don't need Flash anymore, period.
Some questions:
- Will Microsoft update versions of IE 5 and above to adhere, or will it only update v7?
- Will Microsoft try to wrestle for control in the OpenAjax Alliance?
