Movie Review: Final Fantasy VII – Advent Children
Warning: Spoilers
Watched this a while ago.
Wow, I don't know how long I have been waiting for the movie, but I can tell you its been quite some time. Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children ( FF7AC or AC ) ( obviously ) continues the story of Final Fantasy VII ( FF7 ) for the Playstation and PC. I would consider FF7 to be one of the best games I have ever played. It has a captivating storyline and had me glued to my seat for a number of days, and when the death of Aeris came along, I was tragically hit. Hey what can you say? I was 11 when I first played the game, and I'm a sucker for all these emo stuff. The death of Aeris has always been something I remember so well, I don't exactly quite know why, but it was just such a moving scene. Who honestly would have thought about killing the main character? Grr...
Fast forward seven/eight years later, and we have a conclusion to what happens at the end of the game. The games ending was very unconclusive, and we really don't know what happens to everyone, except for a scene 500 years into the future, which doens't explain much.
Overall the movie was good, but I believe there was simply not enough story to carry it along. There was more than enough action scenes, which were tottally awesome but I do wish for more story. Well, to be honets, besides that there really isn't much to say about the movie. So I'll delve more into the game specifics.
Also to people who haven't played the game, or don't know most of it, you honestly will miss out on alot of material. There is no mention of Zack at all in the movie, but there you go, he is right there in person in the movie! Also I believe Aeris name wasn't even mentioned!
The last few words Aeris says, I honestly bet were not directed at just Cloud. But directed to all FF7 fans to end their SOMETHING.
After watching it, there were a few things which I had wished for them to include.
Chocobos
Vincent Limit Break ( I would have loved to see him transform )
Hehe, another thing to note, once finished watching it, I was quite depressed. There we go again, nothing left once its finished. How...miserable. But I do have intentions to play the game again, at least all of Disc 1 as it had most of the memorable scenes. Hopefully I get to play it, but the only thing stopping me is that, most the game isn't really supported on new hardware, which is quite a shame really.
