Happy Hari Raya and Deepavali

October 20th, 2006 by aizatto

While on the road to University today (20th October 2006), you can tell that the festive season has begun already. The roads were alot emptier than usual, and the noise pollution alot lower as well. Which I enjoy.

Looks like several people will be making best use of the long holiday, and take the next thursday and friday (26th and 27th respectively) off to have a nice 9 day weekend. Sadly to students like me, there isn’t much of a benefit.

A minor irritance is that my exams are in the upcoming week after raya, so if I do do any travel/or get dragged along, it would not be productive towards my exams. Sadly it is difficult to schedule the exams any later, as we have to follow the Australian schedule as well.

So as it appears that festive season has begun, I would like to wish everyone a joyous Deepavali, and a happy Hari Raya.

zatto signing off.

PS: If you would like to give any duit raya, I am more than willing to accept :).

Happy New Year

December 31st, 2005 by aizatto

Before continuing reading, I apologize first for not using pictures taken in 2005, but in 2004.
*sigh* Its coming to the end of my two week semester break and I was actually supposed to get quite a few things done this. Well I did, but I didn’t finish everything I had in mind. So I’ll probably plan it for when my college year is over ( which is around February ). I had actually planned to pick up C, but laziness overwhelmed me. Either way I at least got to code some PHP these past two weeks. Got a chance to meet both geeK00L and wahlau which is also nice. Either way I believe I spent most of the first week coding, and the next week doing nothing and just chilling around, more on that in another later blog. Thanks to Colin for inviting me to his Christmas lunch.
Upgraded my Wordpress to version 2 as well. Has some nice things going for it, especially in the looks section. Overall it looks mostly the same on the outside, need to peer into the inside though. But nah, too lazy. I’ve also been working on my own theme for wordpress, using my favorite color, orange! Maybe later I’ll post up a screenshot or something, as it is just in the works. I chose orange, kinda because, its my favorite color, and also well you don’t see it used to often. Just like how I used to use purple before.
Its also the new year, and I bet there is alot of reminiscing going around, certainly for myself at least. I guess you could say I’m a sucker for these kind of things. I was moving some files around, and then came onto my old “iPhoto Library” folder, ah the good old days, so I decided to browse through it and see what good memories I had. From the request of mypapit I’ve uploaded some photo’s to flickr, but nothing so big. Hehe, the good old days when all I had to worry about was eating and having fun. But yeah, didn’t really worry about my grades. People say as a college student I shouldn’t have any worries, besides girls and grades. So what am I exactly worried about nowadays? To be honest sometimes, I’m not to sure myself, I just worry. Bad habbit maybe? Then again people also tell me that I should find more people around my age. Apparently hanging around these “old” people, is “corrupting my view on life”, or so they say. Maybe I should just stop talking to people, as some of the people I know in MSN can relate to.
Also coming this January 12th my parents are moving to Chile, thus leaving my elder brother and myself behind, but thats nothing really too new. Chile would be a nice place to visit, especially gives me the chance to meet my best friend Juan in Argentina, and perhaps go on our own adventure over there. Also the chance to meet nice Latino chicks.
For the stay in Chile my dad purchased a new webcam, the Creative Live! Motion, but sadly enough it doesn’t work in GNU/Linux, thus its a pain in the ass as I have to run Windows just to use it. But it has some nifty “features”, panoramic images, motion detection, face tracking. Personally I find the panoramic one the best. While the face tracking the worst of the lot, as it has a habit of not tracking your face.
Another grudge I have about webcams is their actual usability, great you get to see the person on screen, but they are sitting still, and not doing much except typing so whats the difference?
Webcam Panorama Shot
Not many of you have seen my room, but heres a somewhat okay shot. Doesn’t depict the messiness that is my room. I should probably be embarassed by whats up here, but honestly, why should I? This is me. I have some other shots, but I think this was the best one out of em. Pretty neat. What can you find in that photo? Where Waldo?
A person’s room tells you what his mind is like“, a good friend of mine told me that. Well for those skeptics, here you go.
After looking at most of my old photos, I realized I didn’t take any in 2005 ( not counting RMS ).
What a shame. Getting back to where I started, I wonder how everyone in my highschool is doing. What their doing now, how is college, how is life, etc.
Happy New Year Everyone, MyOSS, FOSS, MKIS, alike
Best of luck to everyone
To good health, happiness, money, and freedom ( 2 ).
Happy Hacking in the year ahead.
I think its time to start writing those New Year Resolutions.
