Sharing vCards

After meeting a client we tend to exchange business cards with one another. I make it a habit to share these contact details over the team/company wide email via a vCard.

Benefits

I do this so that:

  • Everyone gets a copy of the client's contact details. There are no excuses for not receiving it.
  • Archive of the contact details in your email, incase you don't have access to your address book.
  • Sync with your phone

Plus its easy to do using Apple's Address Book. I'm not familiar with the Windows platform, but I'm pretty sure there is a substitute.

Example

In my emails, I not only include the vCard as an attachment, but I also write the contact details in the email, so people can immediately see who the person is without opening up the vCard, and in case they don't have vCard software.

Things to include:

  • Name
  • Email
  • Company Name
  • Phone Number
  • Address
  • Google Maps of the address

The Email:

Now go forth and share those vCards!
