Announcing the Malaysia Air Pollution Index
The Air Pollution Index indicates the level of pollutants in the air. The Department of Environment provides a helpful service by releasing this data to the public. Except, the way the data is presented isn’t relevant.
In the past month, I spent my spare time creating Malaysia Air Pollution Index as a toy project to work on.
I didn’t come up with the idea myself, it is credited to another person who suggested something similar last year. Until I get the permission to associate with him, then I won’t announce who it is.
The original idea was to scrape the Department of Environment’s data and to produce an RSS Feed for it. So that you can always get the latest up to date information.
I decided expand the idea, and try my best to make the data even more relevant. So I created a Google Maps mashup, and formatted the data, and tried my best to give the data some meaning, and make it relevant. Similarly if you wanted, you can download the data as a .csv and play around with it yourself.
As I believe that I have reached my original goals, I decided to move my latest toy project to production status.
Any tips, comments, suggestions, improvements is much appreciated. My About drastically needs improvement. But its not the core of the project.
Note: Note: There are still some bugs which need to be worked out, but it is pretty much good to go. Bug in Safari, with regards to the Map. Using pngs so the images may come out a bit wrong in Internet Explorer.

Cool!!!
Good work man!!!!
