Movie Review: Spider Man 3

So after three long years, the sequel is finally released. Spider Man 3, must be on alot of peoples lists to watch, and it was on mine. I enjoyed Spider Man 2 alot actually, but Spider Man 3 couldn’t live up to it, and only left an “okay” impression.
I watched the movie with my little sister, and when purchasing the tickets, the cashier saw my sister and instantly knew, “You are here for Spider Man aren’t you?“.
Note: Spoilers ahead.
When Stan Lee’s cameo went up on screen, I wonder how many people recognized him.
I bet everyone who knows Spider Man, knows Venom. The arch nemesis of Spider Man. Everyone was waiting for this. The show off between Spider Man and Venom. Sadly they disappointed me.
Venom was never displayed in the trailers or anything, so in that sense they sparked my curiosity on how venom would be depicted. Yes they showed black spidey, but I want to see Eddie Brock as Venom! Once I found out how he looked, it was very disappointing.
I found the CG for venom’s face was terribly disappointing, and looked really cheap. It simply does not carry the same terror as it does in the comic book. When Venom talked, it just looked damn weird.
Similarly I was under the impression that Venom also had a much bigger build than Spider Man.
Similarly Venom’s screentime on the movie was rather damn short. This is it. This is what everyone wanted to see. The big fight off. But it wasn’t so big!
We wanted Venom, and you let us down.
When the bomb exploded near Harry’s face, I swore he would die. I guess I was wrong. He only had ‘minor’ scarring issues. So at the end of the movie when Eddie Brock goes to catch the bomb, how come he simply disintegrated fully. No remains, nothing. Perhaps Harry’s enhanced super body saved him. But damn weird.
Thank goodness there was not as many American flags in this movie as in its predecessor (where it was in almost every scene). Not saying it’s a bad thing, but it was really overkill!
Well enough about the action, how about the story?
I feel it was rushed mid way through, as there is too much going on. Three villians. Goblin, Sandman, Venom. Plus they try to include the love story inside, it was just too much.
When Spider Man first encounters the symbiote and gets his new black suit. It was all a rush. This is one of the climax’s in the movie, and storyline! All of a sudden spider-man is swinging in his black suit, taking down bad guys, then quickly sends a sample of the symbiote to the lab for research, and then …
It was just so bloody fast.
What was great about Spider Man 2, was that you could see the rise and fall of the hero. From the highest point to the lowest. Similarly it was a moral lesson on “doing the right thing”. They did a good job, or maybe that is what I wanted?
Did Peter Parker really fall in Spider Man 3? No, it felt like he was more ‘confused’. As he seemed to be somewhat enjoying life even in his darkest hours. (going around hitting chicks, and getting the job).
Remove Sandman, remove Goblin. Just give us Venom and a love story. 2 hours, 30 minutes. I bet it would have been much better.
Oh yeah, Kristen Dunst looks hotter in this movie.

Good review…i love this film! Defo better than spidey 2. On par with 1!

Too many villains, too many pale plot strands, too many romantic misunderstandings, too many conversations, too many street crowds looking high into the air and shouting “oooh!” this way, then swiveling and shouting “aaah!” that way.
