Nokia Pop-Port

Update: Got myself a cheap MYR 10 substitute. Works fine. But doesn’t look as nice as the nokia one.

I love the Nokia e61i, but there is one stupid gripe I have about it. The stupid Nokia Pop-Port. It’s utterly infuriating. I look at it and I think grrrrrrrrr. At least the machine isn’t running on Windows Mobile.

Now that I have a fancy spancy mobile phone, I can use it for music as well. Great! But there is no standard audio connector on it. Instead you have to use their damn pop-port.

Alright fine, at least they give a free hands free kit with the phone. Woot! (sarcasm intended). So I have been using that for a while.
Note: Its a very cheap one. Hence free.

But it’s damn irritating, especially with only one speaker. It is after all, a hands free kit. Grr. The connection is also flimsy…

I went to the Nokia page and saw I had to purchase an “Nokia Audio Adapter AD-15” (You’ll have to scroll down to see it).

Nokia Audio Adapter AD-15
The adapter allows you to listen to the FM radio or MP3s with stereo headphones that have a standard 3.5 mm plug. The adapter does not contain a microphone, so you need to unplug the adapter for making or receiving phone calls.

Note: Emphasis by me.

Ridiculous. Have to remove the adapter? Comon, just let us leave it on! I don’t want to go through the inconvenience of removing it.

Luckily since this is Malaysia, I can probably find cheap china town alternatives out there. At least I’ll be able to use my old headsets with it.

    You need the AD46 adapter.

You need unplug the adapter because they mute the mic, and just accept the mic of adapter (ok, AD-15 not have mic, and, ok, dont is a elegant solution).
