Movie Review: Bridge to Terabithia
My friend said he was going to watch a movie (Bridge to Terabithia), and I stupidly decided to tag along. The poster for the movie looked interesting. Looked somewhat CG, and almost like an adventure movie.
But you know what they say, don’t judge a book by its cover.
Warning: Spoilers ahead
Though it shouldn’t be a problem reading this, as I didn’t find the movie too good, and wouldn’t recommend you watching it anyways.
I was not in the mood for an emo movie. This movie was definetly that, targeted for the young viewers, I should have expected that as it was the same producer for The Chronicles of Narnia: Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. So to me it was very meh.
Initial thoughts was that it was going to be inside a fantasy world. It took a long while, but finally it came to the scene where the two main characters would enter the enchanted world, by swinging across a stream and jumping into the bushes. Finally, or so I thought. But they didn’t enter an magical world at all.
It was all in their heads. They just imagined it. As the two main characters were neighbors I started wondering if their water supply was effected in any way what so ever. It would certainly explain their delusional state.
Sure I shouldn’t be criticizing kids for imagining a fantasy world, hell even I did it when I was young. Spent a lot of time pretending this and that, day dreaming through most of my school life.
But I’m sorry, it didn’t work in the movie. It was corny, and I mean REALLY corny. Especially with the enemy being large rabid squirrels, bearing armor.

There was interesting character that I found in the film. Heck if I imagined this character when I was a child I would be scared. Its one freaky looking character. And BTW, it plays on role at all. Just a background character, at the very end of the film.
The end of the film came out of nowhere, and all of a sudden BANG, it just ENDED right there! Not much of a plot, no moral story, no climax, nothing.
Hell the poster had a dark atmosphere to it, which the movie never even came close to. A very happy go lucky movie.
Well it was based on a novel, maybe the novel is better (as it always tends to be).
Wow, there you have it, a lot of bad things to say about it. It could also just be that I was just in a bad mood before watching the film. Though my friends would agree that it wasn’t good either.
Definitely not for me, maybe the younger age group (12 and below).
Going to go watch 300 next week. Now THAT should be good. Or at least the action should keep me entertained.

I do not feel that bad about the movie. Maybe because I do not expect it to be like Narnia. I like the story, It makes me wanna go back to time, I definitely missing something during primary school, a female friend that tag along with me that close, emm… probably.

The movie seemed to have a good plot to it, I was really interested until the girl die it seemed the producers had something unexpected happen an tried to fix it. If they make a number two and the girl was never dead just captured by the dark master, that would really make this one alot better.

I enjoyed Bridge to Terabithia; however it is pretty sad for a children’s movie. Also, I rented it to watch with my four-year-old who was completely uninterested. I have written a review as well: Bridge to Terabithia
