Load Balancing Valentines Day (2007)

February 14th, 2007 by aizatto

On Valentines Day, there are two groups of people. Those with dates, and those without. Which one are you? Or perhaps your in the anti-Valentines Day group, against the capitalization of a romantic day. Then perhaps you should also belong in the anti-Every-Joyous-Occasion Day tribe. Just a little trivia, the infamous Happy Birthday to You is copyrighted, thats how commercial it is.

Traffic on Valentines Day is quite bad, and I mean really bad. So bad that people avoid driving on Valentines Day, as if its the day before a festive holiday, where people drive back home to their home town.

Yes, its that bad.

With the increasing traffic on the road I propose that Valentines Day be made a two day celebration. Not only will it help to ease the traffic on the road, but people will have more time to celebrate with the ones they love.

Another option is for Malaysia to adopt the tradition of White Day. Where women treat men on February 14th, and men treat women on March 14th. Load balancing, which will hopefully cut traffic in half. Or cause another hectic jam the following month. Or just getting the women to pay for change :).

Each solution is about eliminating the traffic congestion in the Klang Valley, by hopefully dividing the load in two. Or hell, if you really want to make it big, why not make the period between February 14th to March 14th the month of romance. Leaving me to wonder if there will be a surge in birth rates in the next nine months.

How would you propose a more efficient Valentines Day next year?

So people with dates, enjoy your valentines. People without, best of luck next year.

Ciao, while I spend another Valentines Day sulking.

    Yu-Yu Says

and here is a man who went out for dating in the valentines day. well, nothing special occured that we just watched a movie and had tea break. after tea break i said good-bye to my gf and went straight back home to continue with my modeling. you can call me a loser :P

you wrote about an idea of adopting the white day, but i dont recommend doing it. if you receive something from a girl at the valentines day, they will surely “REQUIRE” you to treat something at the white day and they would expect you to return something that costs more than what you received.

in the recent news on tv, i heard that many japanese men are getting tired of this tradition and wants it to be to quitted. i think its better to lock yourself up in your room and spend a day, rather than going out to receive bullets of chocolate. watch out!!
