MyOSS Meetups

January 14th, 2007 by aizatto

Dear Members of the Free and Open Source Community,

As some of you know, there have been no recent MyOSS Meetups, as I have been abroad. I will be arriving back in Malaysia next month, and would like to know if there is interests in me continuing the MyOSS Meetups.

I know some of you are interested in attending, but have reasons for not coming, such as time, and location. In light of the new year, please take this opportunity as a time for discussion. Perhaps changes can be made as to accommodate AS MOST as possible, not everyone though.

As for the location, we’ve previously had the meetups at:

  • Open University Malaysia
  • SEACeM
  • Data Alliance
  • ByteCraft
  • Training Choice

As for the times, they have generally been the first Thursday of the month. Would there be more appreciation if it was on a weekend perhaps? Though people say they would love it to be on a weekend, will there be a higher attendance?

I thank all the people who have helped the MyOSS Meetups, be it presenting, or sponsoring a location.

Though I haven’t updated the How To help page in a while.

Regards,
Ezwan Aizat bin Abdullah Faiz

PS: Generally I need a larger participation by the community

we’re trying to get our MMU Cyberjaya Linux SiG started (original Linux sig is from MMU melaka http://www.linuxsig.net ).

Also, Creative Commons is just down the road. Went to see them last week and they are open to giving talks in our campus. Got some promo items from them. They’re launching the next CC Competition soon in February or March, so maybe could approach them ?

We could also have the meetup in Cyberjaya, though it may be abit far for everyone. Its just a suggestion though.
