FOSS Business Case Studies at PCFair
Members of the FOSS Community,
The PCFair is coming to KL in less than a week, and people are gearing up to advocate FOSS there. With the short amount of time available, I regret having this idea late.
It has come to my attention that if businesses would like to do a bit of marketing (one example: flyers), that would not be a problem. Though in true sense of the word, the marketing shall not really be marketing, for I do not wish the booth to look like a commercial front for businesses. It is to be for the community, by the community.
One example and a suggestion is to approach it as a business case study on how your business has benefited from FOSS.
Examples:
- Cost savings
- Infrastructure
- Access to the market
- Global collaboration
- Localization
- etc..
On a normal 1 peice of A4 paper, (double sided), it is fair to reserve a quarter to a half of 1 side for the business to use as they please . The amount reserved is arguable and what is displayed there will be on my discretion.
We will not be responsible for printing the flyers, or handing them out.
Also it helps improve your karma if you can help donate to the cause in anyway.
Examples:
- Printing flyers
- Sponsoring hardware for the event
- Anything possible under the wiki: http://aizatto.com/wiki/index.php/PCFAIR-2006-August-KL
Only after being scrutinized and examined by me, will I allow businesses to distribute flyers.
Thank You,
Aizat
